Vevo Meets: Niia. 2017

A student of jazz who once made do with jingle work, Niia has a voice that’s supple, strong, and seductive. After an extended stint in New York, the Boston native is now a citizen of L.A. She says that her interactions with “mentor” Wyclef Jean, who discovered her at a Gotham studio session, took her on tour, and featured her on “Sweetest Girl (Dollar Bill),” prepped her to be become an artist. The results can be heard on her debut EP, ‘Generation Blue’ and new album ‘I.’ The latter features the videos “Sideline” and “Hurt You First.” Niia says one of her key goals is to “hybrid old genres and make them fresh in new way.” Her blend of soul and pop does just that.
