This song was popular when I was in grade school and I loved it then! Gee I wish we could have songs like that today.
I was just a little kid, but I recall 1966 as what seemed like the last year of true innocence, and this song embodies that perfectly.

just a fantastic song
1966-I was 14 years old. Great music, burgers, shakes- Now it's lousy music and kale salads, although I admit eating healthily is a lot easier now and is the way to go. I was blessed to have my childhood in the 50's and 60's. It's getting mighty strange out there now.
They say your main formative years are to the age of 7, when memories bury themselves in your subconscious and become part of who you are. I was 7 in 1966 and this song evokes something deep inside.
Wish their was a live recording of their performance. Love the harmonies.
